Answers
Why should I use this service when there are hundreds of types of disposable cameras I can choose from?
For a point by point comparison of digital versus disposable, click HERE.
Simply put, digital cameras offer superior picture quality, more pictures, and more picture taking options than disposable cameras.
Quality • Our 5 mega-pixel cameras offer a 3X optical zoom, plus an additional 5X digital zoom, offering you 15X zoom capacity! This allows you and your guests to get the picture you want, without having to sacrifice, or compensate for inferior products.
• All of our cameras have a 1.8” LCD screen that allows you to review, delete, and re-shoot! Candid Memories cameras come equipped with a premium flash that is ready when you are. The camera also has adjustable flash options which allows you to reduce red-eye and take pictures in low light situations.
• Candid Memories cameras are high quality brand named cameras built for continued use. These are high-end consumer cameras that are built to give users years and years of service. Our cameras are made of high impact plastic, and quality materials that provide optimum picture quality. This is in sharp contrast to disposable cameras that are made of the cheapest materials with the idea that they will only get a single use. Disposable cameras are made with cheap plastic, cardboard, and use cheap film. They are one step away from being garbage. Is that the impression you want to give your guests?
Quantity • Candid Memories cameras are loaded with 128 Mega –Byte SD cards that hold more then 100 pictures each. That is more then 4 times what a standard disposable holds.
• Candid Memories cameras hold more than 100 pictures. That means that your guests can use them for the duration of your event, capturing memories often overlooked by a professional photographer. Those are the memories that make your event unique! And, because Candid Memories cameras hold so many pictures, your guests do not have to worry about “using up” the camera. They will not have to choose which pictures they should take, and which they should pass on while trying to conserve film. One of the biggest complaints with disposable cameras is that many go unused because guests try to save some of the film for later, then they just forget about them. What fun is that? Your guests can provide you with many lasting memories, but you have to give them the equipment to do it. Candid Memories provide more then enough room for all those special memories.
• With Candid Memories cameras, your guests get to review the pictures they have taken, and even purchase them from your online album. That means they have a vested interest in the pictures they take. After your event, you may be surprised to see how many of your guests take advantage of the personalized photo album option, and how many really do purchase their pictures!
Picture taking options • With Candid Memories digital cameras, you get all the features of a full scale digital camera in one package. While there are many variations of disposable cameras on the market, some with premium features, others without, you can never match the value of a digital with a disposable. Even compared to premium cost disposables with upgraded film, that shoot in black and white, and that come with photo CD’s, the tradeoffs far outweigh the benefits. Every single Candid Memories camera has a 3X optical zoom, and four separate flash options. Our cameras also have different shutter speeds, allowing the user to shoot in sport mode (for moving subjects), night mode (for pictures taken in dark locations), and different portrait settings for close up shots. Our cameras also shoot in black and white and sepia tone. These are all advanced features that anyone can access, but each camera has an “Auto” mode that is a simple point and click action. But the LCD screen really separates the digital from the disposable. When your guests have freedom to review, delete and re-shoot, they have the freedom to capture events as they want them captured.
What type of cameras does Candid Memories use?
We use quality Kodak C533 5 mega-pixel cameras that are equipped with a 3X optical zoom lens, and 5X digital zoom.
How many picture can your cameras hold?
Each cameras are loaded with a 128 MB SD card capable of holding about 100 high resolution pictures. Candid Memories cameras hold nearly four times more pictures than most disposables. And remember, with our digital cameras, you only pay for the pictures you print. The more pictures you take, the more choices you have. The more choices you have, the better pictures you get.
Are these cameras easy to use?
Yes! While our cameras are loaded with many advanced features, they have a simple point and click setting that makes the camera good to go seconds after powering it on. Additionally, each of our cameras comes with an attached instruction card which details its simple operation.
What is a Photo Printer? How does it work? How much do they cost?
A- Candid Memories is proud to offer photo printers for your event! At Candid memories, we offer all new Kodak G 610 photo printers that are designed to integrate perfectly with our Kodak Cameras! These are portable printers designed exclusively for photo printing, and can produce a lab quality 4X6 image in under a minute.
B- Simply place the camera on the printer dock, select the picture you want to print, and in a few seconds, you have an instant souvenir of your event. Our printers set up in less then five minutes, and come with a simple instruction sheet that details set up, printing, and changing ink and paper. Due to recent advances in the personal photo printer technology, having a photo printer at your event has never been easier. With the all new Kodak G series printers, ink and paper come packaged together, and the ink roll is guaranteed to produce exactly the amount of prints as specified on the package. When you rent a Kodak photo printer, you get a brand new sealed package of ink and paper allowing you to maximize usage. Have the printer at the event, and then print off any remaining photos for your self after the event. Our photo printers make an exciting addition to any event, and provide you and your guests with instant memories of the big day!
C- Photo printers start at only $74.95 (plus shipping) for one printer capable of printing 50 pictures. There is also a 200 picture option for $110.00 (plus shipping). Additional packages of prints are available at $30.00 for 50 images, and $55.00 for 200 images.
How can you guarantee photo quantities with a photo printer?
A- With the new Kodak G series printers, the ink and paper are sold in sets of 50 or 200. In each set you receive exactly the amount of paper to print the images as specified on the packaging, and exactly the right amount of ink. The ink comes as a no-mess cartridge that snaps easily into the printer. A 50 print pack comes with one cartridge, capable of printing 50 images, while the 200 print pack comes with 2 cartridge capable or printing 100 images. Each cartridge will only rotate a finite number of times (50 or 100 depending on the print pack) and therefore has just enough ink to finish the roll. This takes the guess work out of how much ink is needed, and allows for less waste and therefore lower cost!

Photo Share / Online Hosting
What is Photo Share? How Does it work?
Photo Share is really what sets Candid Memories apart from disposable cameras.
Photo Share is a full function online photo album! With Photo Share, you and your guests can view the pictures that were taken, and purchase them individually, or as a whole from the comfort of home. With disposable cameras, the event host is required to develop the entire contents of the camera, even unused shots, and all the bad pictures. And what about your guests? With disposables, your guests were never able to view the fruits of their labor. Now, with Photo Share, they can view, and order prints of the photos they took of your event.
Plus, Photo Share allows guests who were unable to attend your event to share in the experience!
Using your Photo Share album is easy. Simply enter your password in the provided space on the Candid Memories home page, and you will be directed to your very own personalized Photo Share page. From your Photo Share page, you can view, zoom, and order your prints. It’s that simple! But the fun does not stop there! Because we do more than just simple prints. Click the tab to the Products page to see all the great products we have to offer.
How will my guests be able to find their photos?
Packaged with each camera is an accompanying event presenter with all the information your guests will need to find their pictures. Included in the event presenter are carry cards that your guests may keep, which will direct them to the Candid Memories website. Each card contains the password your guests will need to enter to find their photos. The presenters also hold a tablet on which your guests are asked to leave their e-mail addresses. When the pictures are posted, Candid Memories will e-mail you and your guests inviting you to come visit your photos.
Your Candid Memories photos will be posted within one week of the event. Those guests who left an e-mail address in the event presenter will be contacted once the pictures have been posted.

Damage/ Theft/ Insurance
What happens if one of my cameras is damaged during an event?
Scratches and dings are normal wear and tear, and is covered in the cost of the rental. Any substantial cosmetic damage, or any damage that would render the camera unusable is the responsibility of the host. For your protection, Candid Memories offers our recommended damage insurance at a cost of $5.00 per camera.
What happens if a camera is stolen or is not returned?
If a camera is lost or stolen, the person or parties who signed the rental agreement is responsible for the replacement costs. The replacement cost of each camera is $100.00. We are unable to insure against theft or loss (no one would ever return our cameras)
HOWEVER
At Candid Memories we have gone to great lengths and made considerable investments to make our cameras as secure as practically possible. The following four methods of security are built into every Candid Memories camera you rent.
1- All cameras are equipped with an instruction tag that, aside from demonstrating how to use each camera, details the security features built into the camera, and informs the users that the persons renting the camera are responsible for any loss or damage that occur to it. Most people are very respectful of the cameras to begin with, however once a user knows that their host will be responsible for the replacement costs (as opposed to Candid Memories or the venue), they are then less likely to steal from you then an unfamiliar company.
2- All cameras are laser inscribed with our website, and the 888 telephone number where we can be contacted. This form of security is effective on two levels. First, it gives as honest individual who may have mistakenly taken the camera home (after a night of partying, people will sometimes do the darndest things!) the ability to contact us and return the camera. This happens more often then you might think, so if a camera turns up missing, wait a day or so and see if it turns up! Secondly, by laser inscribing our cameras, they are “Tastefully Defaced” While they work just as well as uninscribed cameras, and look very nice, the logo and 888 telephone number brand the cameras as ours and make them difficult to sell or claim ownership to by a third party.
3- Each of our cameras has their SD card door sealed shut. This restricts data transfer from the camera to a computer or memory reading device. Because our memory cards are fixed in place, each camera requires a Kodak photo share dock or printer to extract information, as well as the specific adaptor for the camera model- these are included with the camera and are not available for retail sale. Essentially our cameras can gather images, but a would-be thief would need to purchase additional equipment in order to extract information from it.
4- Each of our cameras has an altered battery compartments that allow them to run on a non-common battery only. At Candid Memories, we have painstakingly removed the electronic components of all of our cameras that allow them to run on standard AA batteries, as well as any Kodak rechargeable batteries. Every one of our cameras requires a non-common battery, and will not work without it. This feature makes the camera impossible to power up once the battery has run down.
CANDID MEMORIES
IS THE ONLY DIGITAL CAMERA RENTAL COMPANY THAT BUILDS THIS KIND OF SECURITY INTO THEIR CAMERAS!
How much does Candid Memories services cost?
The basic camera rental price is $19.95 per camera. Go to Order Now to select the rental package that best fits your needs.
How do your prices compare to disposable cameras?
When comparing the advantages of digital cameras over disposables, there is a lot to consider. Visit our website Compare page for a point by point comparison of features. Beyond the initial cost of disposable cameras, you should consider the cost and limitations of developing prints. The average cost of developing is $7.00 for single prints. Remember that with disposable cameras, you have no idea what you are developing. For example, you may pay the full price of developing only to find out that there were no pictures on that camera that you were interested in, or worse, the camera might have only two or three pictures on it, and you must pay the full price to develop a mostly empty roll. Then, if you would like to render those pictures digitally (remember disposable cameras shoot on film), it will cost you an additional $4.00 per camera to have those images copied to a CD. After all that, you images are printed on low quality film, and are from a low quality camera, giving you low quality pictures. And, your guests never get to see the pictures they took- so why would they bother taking great pictures?
The Wait For Something Great scenario. With disposable cameras, guests often times save the pictures, waiting for that special moment, only to forget about the camera all together. This happens because there is a limited number of shots in a film camera, and they do not want to waste the film. With Candid Memories cameras, there is plenty of room for simple candid shots as well as for the great moments that might come later. But, if the camera does become full, and there is still some great action to capture, your guests can delete some of the less interesting pictures and replace them with the great ones. And with Candid memories cameras you can record video! Disposables cannot do that!
Premium features and hybrids. There are different types of disposable cameras that offer some digital features at a premium price. Some cameras shoot in black and white- only black and white. Others have zoom, a switch that goes from wide shot to not-quite-as-wide-shot. Some cameras have flashes that need to be charged between shots. Finally some cameras offer high quality film at a premium price. Remember that with Candid Memories cameras, you get all these features with every single camera for one low price.
How does your service compare with digital disposable?
Digital disposables are a bad idea, poorly realized. With a digital disposable you get 27 low resolution images taken by a camera with no zoom, and very limited features. Sure there is a review window, but did you know that you can only delete the very last picture taken. That means that if the camera is full and there is a great shot you can't miss, you can only delete the very last shot. Digital disposables do come with a photo CD, but you still have to pay for hard copy prints. You get all this for only $19.99. Sound familiar? Where can you get a better camera for a better price? Don’t bother with digital disposables, there are much better options out there.
Can I reserve your cameras now and pay in full closer to the event?
Sure! Mouse over the tab, pick your options, then at the bottom of the page, click the icon. It’s that simple.
When I order products like albums or frames, do you insert the photos into the products?
Unfortunately, no. Your pictures are processed in a separate facility using commercial grade equipment. That company processes your photo order, and ships it directly to you. If you would like to pair up a photo and frame for example, you could have the items shipped to you. If that item were a gift you could then forward the set on to the recipient. That would allow you to add your personal touches to the packaging, and actually see the items before you gift them.
Why do I have to pay separately for my photos? Why do they not go into the same shopping carts as my albums and photo CD’s?
All of the aspects of the photo order process are done at a different facility. We create our photo CD’s and DVD’s in house. Other products come from our warehouse. Having different sources of product allow us to offer a variety of products at competitive prices.
What is an Archive photo CD?
An archive photo CD, is a copy of every single image shot with every single camera at your event.
What is a photo DVD slideshow?
A picture slideshow of your photos as well as any videos recorded by the cameras at your event.
Can my Candid Memories camera capture video?
Yes! All of our cameras capture video with audio. Your videos will be posted on your unique photo album page, and can be added to your DVD slideshow.
